5. Where can I take the TOEFL iBT test?
There are three convenient versions of the TOEFL iBT test, all with the same content and scoring.
1. Standard TOEFL iBT: You take this test on a computer at an ETS-approved test center. You can find a nearby test center on the official TOEFL iBT website. There are more than 3,000 test centers worldwide.
2. TOEFL iBT Home Edition: You take this test on a computer at home. Test appointments are available 24/7, four days a week.
3. TOEFL iBT Paper Version: In some countries, you can take this version. You complete the Reading, Listening, and Writing sections on paper at a test center. The Speaking section is done on a computer at home within three days of the test center session. When you sign up for the test, you can choose the option that works best for you. Registration opens five to six months before each test date. To get your preferred date and location, it is strongly recommended that you register early.
6. How is the TOEFL iBT test scored?
The TOEFL iBT test is divided into four sections: Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing. Each section is scored from 0 to 30, and the total score ranges from 0 to 120. At the end of the test, you can see your unofficial Reading and Listening scores. Your official test results will be available about six days after the test and are valid for two years. The score report also includes your “MyBest scores”, which are the highest scores from all your recent tests. You can retake the test as many times as you need if you want to improve your score or if your score does not meet your desired institution's requirements. You must wait three days between tests. When you register for the exam, you can choose up to four institutions to receive your TOEFL iBT scores automatically. This can speed up the process, especially if you took the test close to the application deadline.
